- On Thursday, Sept. 26, the junior and senior girls competed in the annual spirit week powderpuff game during academic lab. Junior Siena Berman passes the ball to a teammate during a play while classmates on the sidelines watch.
- The game is mostly student led with very little assistance from teachers and administrators. Football players from the team’s grade levels helped coach the girls and walked them through plays. “It was so fun. My favorite part was seeing us win,” said senior football player Johnathan Edwards. “They wanted a game plan this year since we didn’t really have one last year, so I gave them one. I loved it and I’d for sure do it again.”
- Seniors line up for pre-game chant to hype each other up and get ready for the game. The highly anticipated game this year was more competitive than past years due to the juniors and the seniors already butting heads over other spirit week rivalry.
- The game is not only fun for the junior and senior girls that play, but also the boys that signed up to cheer the teams on at half time. The boys had cheerleaders help them learn chants and even some stunts to cheer on their classmates.
- Seniors Oldani and Mason Peebles cheer on teammates during the second half of the game. The game brought together players and coaches over their class spirit.
- Juniors Aliyah Fortenberry and Zion Lewis run across the field, blocking the opposite players from getting the ball from their teammate.
- After the seniors in the game they go on a celebratory run, following their football coach Johnathan Edwards. They won the game with seven touchdowns and the juniors had none.
- Junior Abby Bockerstett congratulates seniors Maddy Pack and Erica Patton after the seniors won the game 7-0. “Everybody wants to win so badly. Our football players really don’t want to see us lose., They want us to win and have fun so we’re really gonna try to put on a good game for them,” said Bockerstett.
