Junior Dorian Washington Discusses Escorting Women in Pageants

Junior Dorian Washington escorts a young lady at a pageant He did this and assisted the people at the event between the ages of 9 to 14. “I was passive back then. The things I learned there taught me, in a sense, to say something when someone is being treated badly. It would [cause] problems if I saw someone being hard on their daughter at the pageant, and I told their parents to lay off,” said Washington.

Q: What made you want to get involved in escorting women in the pageants?
A: My mom is in a sorority called AKA, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and she wants me to join the male fraternity version or the Alpha Phi Alphas. One way to do it was their Little Miss Fashionetta. They taught us basically the proper way to do things – be a gentleman and ballroom dancing. I don’t know if they still have escorts with Covid, but I’m pretty sure they still have the competitions.

Q: What exactly did you learn?
A: History of both sorority and fraternities, square dancing even though we didn’t use it lots, the waltz, what to do if a girl messes up her set and improvising. There were things that didn’t really make sense to learn at the time like how to set a table, how to dress right, cooking tips and different random things like that.

Q: What do you think was your best accomplishment?
A: Helping others and myself learn new skills even if we didn’t win.

Q: What was your favorite and disliked memory?
A: My favorite memory would be making friends that I still talk to today and bonding through video games, escorts, winning, losing and the carefree moments we had before we started growing up fast. My least favorite would be either losing or having to stop escorting because of Covid and other personal reasons.

Q: If you could go back, would you?
A: No I wouldn’t. If I went back, then that would be tainting the memories I already have. I wouldn’t trade those for anything. The only reason I would go back would be if there was no Covid in the past. If you are asking me would I go back after Covid, then no.

Q: If someone were to ask you for some advice or tips before they would like to be an escort, what would you say to them?
A: The things you learn here might not seem important now, but you will use at least one every other day of your life until you die. Plus girls always like a gentleman, so here’s some practice.
