Varsity football beats Fox in homecoming game

During the homecoming football game on Oct. 18, senior Messiah Smith jukes his defender for the first down. Smith would go on to complete a 60-yard touchdown, helping the Vikings beat Fox 35-14.
Early in the game, senior Jordan Clark lines up to route his Fox opponent to hopefully get a touchdown or a first down. The Vikings were favored to win the game since their record was 6-2 going into the game and Fox’s record was 3-5.
Senior Jodee Fortenberry takes down the Fox opponent. The defense helped win the game by completing two fumble recoveries, one leading to a touchdown.
Sophomore Bryce Glasby runs to the huddle to talk about how he is going to kick the ball. “In the huddle, we were talking about what we were going to do for kickoff after we scored a touchdown,” Glasby said.
Senior Collin Griffin blocks his matchup for his teammates to find a opening through Fox’s tough defense. His actions help stopped Fox from scoring on that down, keeping the game tied 7-7 until the third quarter.
Junior Benton Mohrmann sprints to get his team a first down and some extra yards while his teammate senior Jordan Clark helps him by clearing the way. “I had got the first down and got pretty far, but there was a flag on the play so I stopped running,” Mohrmann said.
Senior Brock Klingler stops his opponent from getting to his running back so they can move forward up the field for a touchdown. Once the defense cleared the way, Messiah Smith, Dakarri Hollis, and Collin Griffin all completed touchdowns putting the Viking on top.
Senior Everett Cui talks to his teammate Jordan Clark about the previous play that happened on defense. Communication on the field is important on the field because it is needed to stop touchdowns and could lead to a win.

The game against Parkway South went well because we came out with a win as a team. I wouldn't change anything about this game because the most important result happened which was winning,” Dake said.
