North Implements New AcLab Procedure

On Tuesday, May 17, students from University of Missouri-St. Louis and their teacher visited North’s percussion class to play for them. The percussion students were also given the opportunity to learn music from African culture and they played along with their guests. “It was really cool,” freshman Matthew Stolze said. “I got to hear music from around the world in styles that I’ve never heard before.”

After a three year hiatus due to COVID and its consequences, lacrosse has returned to North. The team lacks experience and is struggling to win, but they are gaining vital experience and building a foundation for North lacrosse's future.

North seniors celebrate their last basketball game of their high school careers after defeating the Fox Warriors on Senior Night on Feb. 22, 2022. For Donovan Sawyer, Senior Night was a great conclusion to his high school basketball career. “[Senior Night] was really fun,” Sawyer said. “I had some of the most memorable moments playing during high school, and I wouldn’t change any bit of it.”

On Feb. 7, 2021, the Parkway North Vikings faced off against the Hazelwood East Spartans. Guard Ser Lewis played standout defense throughout the game and was resilient from the start.

Sophomore Jaidyn Peeler reviews for her math final exam but is unsure if it will be taken virtually or in-person. As things currently stand, students are still required to wear masks and are in-person. However, that may all change. The mask mandate is being challenged, and masks may no longer be required to start the second semester. Furthermore, with COVID-19 cases peaking, students and teachers are unsure if school will pivot to virtual. However, if school is in-person and the mask mandate is retracted, Peeler will continue to wear her mask regardless. “It can be a pain sometimes, but it is needed. Wearing a mask everyday keeps lives safe.” As of Jan. 7, there are 594 active cases in the Parkway School District. If the cases continue to increase, the challenge against the mandate might not go through and Parkway could even be virtual.
