- On April 2, the track team does a dynamic stretch to get their bodies warmed for practice. Doing stretches is needed to get their bodies prepared for the running, as they risk injuring themselves otherwise.
- Sophomore Charles Sample passes the baton to his teammate sophomore Markell Kimmins. Kimmins practices on his technique getting hands-off from a teammate. “I really like running track. It is very fun to run past people and beat them and getting medals for being fast,” Kimmins said.
- Senior Collin Griffin sprints to beat his current PR (Personal Record.) Track athletes are pushed to beat their PR’s every practice and he accomplished that.
- Coaches Jason Crawford and Carla Hertlein talk to staff to think about what they want to focus on during practice. Having the right drills helps make track athletes better at certain skills which will lead them to success.
- Sophomore Alexander Harvey attempts to get a success streak going during a drill coach Jason Crawford gave the team. “I really like doing track because it helps me to be faster. My first sport is football and doing track helps me get faster for football,” Harvey said.
- Senior Jon’David White leads stretches for the track team as one of the head captains. He returns from the previous year after making State Champions in hurdles.
- Dynamic warm ups and team stretches help the team members socialize better. Despite the appearance that track gives as an individual performance sport, communication and connection are essential in a track team’s success
- Junior Jordan McDavid talks to his coach about a meet that occurred on April 2 at Clayton High School. The meet went well for the teams, with the girls varsity coming first in the relay competition. Since then, they attended an invitational at Wentzville on April 11, and are gearing up for tournaments in May.
