If you enter the commons after lunch, you may find Latonia Wynn cleaning or taking the trash out, doing what she loves while also keeping the school moving and improving.
“I enjoy working with the kids and being around the staff members,” said Wynn.
Wynn has worked within the Parkway district for over 30 years. Over those three decades, she has made unbreakable bonds with her fellow staff and students, and memories that she will remember for the rest of her life.
Her connection to the students and staff goes beyond simple maintenance, as students nominated her to walk with two different classes during their graduation ceremony.
“I was so excited,” she recounts. Wynn has shared hopes that people see more than just her work ethic. “I’m very sweet, I’m very humble, and very caring.”
Moreover, Leslie Pogue has dedicated 21 years to the district after previously being a receptionist. Even though she is not a custodian, and instead a part of the Parkway Food Services, Pogue found her calling in cooking and food services, and working with students.
“I care about what my food looks like, my presentation, and keeping my area clean and feeding the kids,” said Pogue.
Additionally, before working as a custodian, Arin Davies previously ran a home daycare for 20 years while raising her seven children. That maternal care shows in her work ethic every day.
“I keep coming back because I love working with the kids,” said Davies.
Adriana Rodriguez moved into the school system two years after a career in business administration in Costa Rica. As an English language learner, she has quickly adapted and embraced the school’s work culture, including its events.
“I like the activities. Band, the football games,” said Rodriguez.
Students know that there are teams both in football and soccer, but they don’t realize that the staff is a team, too.
“I like when people are a team,” said Rodriguez.
